As of today, the Housing and Development Board (HDB) has received a total of 9,359 applications for the 3,185 BTO flats that were offered last Monday.
This translates to an overall application rate of about 2.94 times.
Despite the higher prices, the premium flats had more applications than the standard flats.
For example, there were 493 applications for the 366 4-room standard flats in Montreal Ville, i.e. application rate of 1.35 times. In comparison, there were 2,472 applications for the 440 4-room premium flats in Waterway Terraces II, i.e. application rate of 5.62 times.
Among premium flats, the bigger flats were more popular than the smaller flats, again despite the higher prices for the former. For example, there were 328 applications for the 118 3-room flats in Waterway Terraces II, or an application rate of 2.78 times. In comparison, there were 1,697 applications for the 246 5-room flats in Waterway Terraces II, or an application rate of 6.90 times.
In total, 4,497 applications were for the 804 flats under Waterway Terraces II, which, according to HDB, is expected due to its good location and award-winning design.
Applicants will be notified of their results by mid-May this year. This is due to the enhanced process announced by HDB in March, wherein it will halve the time taken to invite applicants to select their flats.
Apart from the 3,185 flats offered in April, prospective homebuyers can look forward to 6,070 more new BTO flats to be offered in May and Jun 2011. They will be located in Pasir Ris, Punggol, Tampines, Woodlands, Bukit Panjang and Sengkang.
